Rival China and Taiwan applications to CPTPP
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership was designed to create a large-scale economic zone along the Pacific Rim as an alternative to the Chinese trade regime. Both China and Taiwan's surprising applications to the CPTPP are rattling members of the 11-nation trade bloc and could jeopardize its future.
